Debt relief grants introduced by Obama for individuals- President Barack Obama created quite a buzz with his prestigious and ambitious package which he announced to reform the debt situation in the country. Obama Debt Relief Act is, indeed, a landmark and a Herculean effort which the president has initiated with the purpose to get rid of all the debts. It is an evident fact that the recession which started in 2007, engulfed the global economy and left a deep impact on the lives of the low and mid-level income families. One of the important aspects of the Obama Debt Relief Grants is Loan Forgiveness which has given much boost to those who are either facing bad credit or are unemployed. Some of the Loan Forgiveness programs which have been initiated are as follows:
- Obama Student Loan Forgiveness Program: this name came into existence when President Obama reformed part of the Direct Loan Program in 2010 by signing the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010. In this program, the borrower can consolidate all their federal student loans into one new loan and in that new loan the borrower can choose a new payment mode that is affordable to him
- Public Service Loan Forgiveness: in this loan forgiveness program one may be eligible to qualify after 10 years or after 120 payments instead of standard 20 to 25 years forgiveness. However, not many people are aware that this program is included in the Direct Loan Program and in one of the correct repayment plans.
- Teacher and Disability Forgiveness: there is a separate program that exists which exclusively stands to help the teachers by offering them the principal reduction or to the disabled by exempting them completely from the loans.
